SL-4L TAPER SHAPE - RADIUS PREMIUM TUNGSTEN CARBIDE BURR– ¼” shank

SL-4L Taper shape burrs (also called conical ball nose burrs) are great for narrow contours, surface machining and getting at rounded edge and surface processing in small places. Due to the extreme hardness of this tungsten carbide, it can be used on much more demanding jobs than HSS (High-Speed Steel). These carbide burrs are made of tungsten carbide burr die grinder bits and will start to soften at higher temperatures, so carbide is always the best choice for long-term performance. The extended 6” shaft length is ideal for hard-to-reach deburring applications.

Double cut or Cross cut carbide burrs tend to be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, soft steel, and also for all non-metal materials such as stone, plastics, hardwood, and ceramic. Double cut burrs will leave a slightly smoother finish than single cut due to producing smaller chips as they cut away the material. Use for medium stock removal, deburring, finishing, and cleaning. A double-cut carbide burr is the most popular cut and will see you through most applications.

  • Other Materials – Fiberglass, Plastic, Hard Rubber, Wood, Stone
  • Taper Shape burrs are great for narrow workpiece contours and surfaces.

Safety Tips & Techniques:

  • Tool speed will be determined by the material you are using your burr on.  If you are experiencing chipping, you are most likely operating at too high of speed for the application.  Start with a slower speed and increase as you go along until you achieve the best results
  • Apply light pressure and let the tool do the work.  Bearing down on the tool will result in reduced tool life and a dull burr.
  • Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection.  Keep all guards in place on your machine.
  • Avoid use on electric power drills; the slower speeds can result in chipping of your workpiece.

Leo ★★★★★

The ¼” shank fits my die grinder perfectly, and the conical ball nose shape glides through steel without grabbing. Honestly, I’ve used cheaper burrs that vibrated like crazy, but this one stays smooth even under pressure.

Thomas P. ★★★★★

I was skeptical about taper-shaped burrs for detail work, but this SL-4L’s conical ball nose design lets me get into tight spots my old straight bits couldn't reach. The tungsten carbide is holding up beautifully on hardened steel after several projects.

Ryan ★★★★★

The ¼” shank fits my rotary tool perfectly, and the taper shape lets me reach into tight corners without any chatter. Cuts through hardened steel like butter, leaving a surprisingly clean finish. I’m already planning to order another size for finer work.
