SA-5L CYLINDER SHAPE PREMIUM TUNGSTEN CARBIDE BURR– ¼” shank

SA-5L Cylinder shape burrs are great for interior contour work and deburring. Due to the extreme hardness of this tungsten carbide, it can be used on much more demanding jobs than HSS (High-Speed Steel). These carbide burrs are made of tungsten carbide burr die grinder bits and will start to soften at higher temperatures, so carbide is always the best choice for long-term performance. The extended 6” shaft length is ideal for hard-to-reach deburring applications.

Double cut or Cross cut carbide burrs tend to be used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, soft steel, and also for all non-metal materials such as stone, plastics, hard wood, and ceramic. Double cut burrs will leave a slightly smoother finish than single cut due to producing smaller chips as they cut away the material. Use for medium stock removal, deburring, finishing, and cleaning. A double-cut carbide burr is the most popular cut and will see you through most applications.

Safety Tips & Techniques:

  • Tool speed will be determined by the material you are using your burr on. If you are experiencing chipping, you are most likely operating at too high of speed for the application. Start with a slower speed and increase as you go along until you achieve the best results
  • Apply light pressure and let the tool do the work. Bearing down on the tool will result in reduced tool life and a dull burr.
  • Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection.  Keep all guards in place on your machine.
  • Avoid use on electric power drills; the slower speeds can result in chipping of your workpiece.

Aurora ★★★★★

I’ve been using this cylinder burr for smoothing out the inside of some tight corners, and the cut is super clean with hardly any vibration. The ¼" shank fits my die grinder perfectly, and the shape made deburring a lot faster than with my old round bits.

Ruby V. ★★★★★

The cylinder shape is exactly what I needed for smoothing out interior contours, and the ¼” shank fits my rotary tool without any wobble. Cuts through steel edges cleanly, no clogging so far.

Ruby T. ★★★★★

Took this burr to some tight interior edges on a steel bracket, and the ¼” shank held up without any wobble. The cylinder shape made deburring way smoother than I expected, and it's still cutting clean after a solid session.
