BROWN TRIPOLI BUFFING COMPOUND - USA MADE

Our USA made brown tripoli buffing compound is an aggressive first-step cutting compound designed for aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous metals. Its natural Tripoli abrasive provides fast cutting action to remove surface imperfections while beginning to develop color and preparing the surface for finer polishing compounds.

Brown Tripoli is an excellent choice when substantial surface correction is needed before the final polishing stages. For best results, pair it with a firm spiral-sewn buffing wheel and follow with a finer polishing compound when a brighter, higher-gloss finish is desired.

Polishing Performance

  • Cut: High / Aggressive
  • Gloss: Low to Moderate / Preliminary Color
  • Stage: Cutting / First Step

Tip: Brown Tripoli is primarily a cutting and pre-polishing compound. For a brighter, higher-gloss finish, clean the workpiece and move to a finer polishing compound using a separate buffing wheel.

Safety Tips/techniques:

  • Bring the compound to a spinning buffing wheel to transfer the compound onto the wheel.
  • Use a dedicated buffing wheel for each compound to prevent cross-contamination between polishing stages.
  • Follow the compound SDS and machine instructions. Wear appropriate eye/face and hearing protection, and use respiratory protection when required. Keep guards in place, secure the workpiece, and keep loose clothing, jewelry, hair, and gloves away from rotating parts.

Lucy ★★★★★

I've been using this brown tripoli on some tarnished silverware, and it cuts through the oxidation much faster than the generic compound I had before. The bar is solid and doesn't crumble while you're working it onto the wheel.

Miles ★★★★★

Brought out the shine on an old brass lamp in just a few passes—cuts fast but leaves a smooth enough finish that I didn't need to switch compounds right away.

Adam K. ★★★★★

Took this to my bench grinder and it made quick work of removing scratches from a brass lamp base I’m restoring. The bar holds together well without crumbling, and the cut is aggressive enough to save time.
