SD-51NF BALL SHAPE PREMIUM TUNGSTEN CARBIDE BURR– 1/8” shank

SD-51NF Ball shape burrs are great for deburring, contouring, rounded edge processing and removing build-up before welding preparations. Due to the extreme hardness of this tungsten carbide, it can be used on much more demanding jobs than HSS (High-Speed Steel). These carbide burrs are made of tungsten carbide burr die grinder bits and will start to soften at higher temperatures, so carbide is always the best choice for long-term performance

Aluminum cut carbide burrs tend to be used on non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper, zinc alloys and magnesium as well as for non-metal materials such as plastics, hard rubber, and some woods. These carbide burrs are specially designed for fast stock removal without loading. Design allows chips to flow out of the flutes. Use for medium stock removal, deburring, finishing, and cleaning.

Machines Used On:

  • Die Grinders and hand-held pneumatic grinders

Application:

  • Non-Ferrous Materials – Aluminum, Copper, Zinc alloys, Magnesium
  • Other Materials – Plastic, Hard Rubber, Soft Wood
  • Cylinder Shape burrs are great for interior contour work like peripheral and face milling.
  • Widely used for metalwork, toolmaking, engineering, model engineering, wood carving, jewelry making, welding, chamfering, casting, deburring, grinding, cylinder head porting, and sculpting.

Safety Tips & Techniques:

  • Tool speed will be determined by the material you are using your burr on.  If you are experiencing chipping, you are most likely operating at too high of speed for the application.  Start with a slower speed and increase as you go along until you achieve the best results
  • Apply light pressure and let the tool do the work.  Bearing down on the tool will result in reduced tool life and a dull burr.
  • Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection.  Keep all guards in place on your machine.
  • Avoid use on electric power drills; the slower speeds can result in chipping of your workpiece.

Riley ★★★★★

The 1/8” shank fits perfectly in my rotary tool, and the ball shape made contouring aluminum edges smooth and effortless. It really is premium tungsten carbide—no wear after a full afternoon of work.

Christopher B. ★★★★★

I’ve been using this ball burr for smoothing out edges on metal pieces, and the tungsten carbide holds up way better than my old steel bits. The cut is clean and consistent even on tougher spots.

Adam S. ★★★★★

The 1/8” shank fits my rotary tool perfectly, and the ball shape glides through rounded edge work without catching. It’s held up through a dozen aluminum pieces with no wear yet, so the tungsten carbide is definitely doing its job.
