4" X 1/2" COTTON CUSHION SEWN BUFFING WHEEL WITH 1/4" MANDREL
Get the versatility of a cushion-sewn cotton buff in a portable format with our 4" cotton cushion sewn buffing wheel. Its medium-firm construction provides more support than flannel while remaining flexible enough to follow curves and contours, making it an excellent choice for intermediate polishing, coloring, and developing a smooth natural-luster finish on a wide variety of metals.
The integrated 1/4" ball-groove quick-change shank lets you bring the polishing wheel directly to the workpiece using a compatible drill or driver. This makes it especially useful for larger assemblies, installed parts, irregular shapes, and projects that are difficult to bring to a stationary buffer. Pair it with the appropriate buffing compound to refine the surface after the initial cutting stage or continue toward a brighter polished finish.

| Gloss | High |
| Stage | Intermediate Polish / Coloring |
| Wheel Firmness | Medium |
| Best For | Developing natural luster and refining the surface before final polishing |
Tip: Think of cushion-sewn cotton as the middle wheel in a traditional three-stage polishing process. Use a firmer spiral-sewn wheel when more cutting is required, then move to cushion sewn for refinement and coloring before finishing with soft flannel when maximum gloss is desired.

In Benchmark multi-stage polishing systems, cotton cushion-sewn wheels are commonly used as the second-stage wheel between spiral-sewn cotton and flannel.
For best results, dedicate one buffing wheel to each compound to prevent contamination between polishing stages.
Safety Tips & Techniques
- Apply a small amount of compound to the spinning wheel rather than overloading it.
- Use light to moderate pressure and allow the compound and wheel to do the polishing.
- Keep the wheel moving across the surface to control heat buildup.
- Use extra care with plastics, acrylics, and plated surfaces.
- Clean the workpiece before changing compounds or polishing stages.
- When leaving the workpiece, move the wheel away with a smooth downward motion to help blend buffing marks.
- Avoid catching the edge of the wheel on an edge or corner of the workpiece.
-
Wear appropriate eye, hearing, respiratory, and hand protection.
- Confirm that the wheel and shank are securely mounted before use.
- Always operate within the limits of the wheel and power tool.
