Product Specification

15/16" SILVER & DEMING HSS DRILL BIT

Benchmark Abrasives 15/16" Silver & Deming HSS Drill Bits are ideal for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, manganese, and other tough materials. They are precision ground from one solid piece of heat-treated high speed and have a 135-degree split point to eliminate wobbling.

Silver and Deming drill bits are large size bits with reduced shanks that are ideal for situations where a bit diameter is greater than the capacity of a drill chuck. This Silver and Deming drill bit is also known as a reduced-shank drill bit. The HSS drill bits provide good wear resistance and can be used in general purpose applications on both ferrous and nonferrous materials. Oxide coating of these bits prevents chip building, galling, and welding on the workpiece. Its black-gold surface treatment holds lubricant for smoother, longer drilling. It is ideal for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, manganese, and other tough materials.

Quantity: 1 piece

Dimensions

Safety Tips/techniques:

  • We suggest using a drill press as opposed to a drill with our silver and demming bits.  A drill can be tricky to ensure straight drilled holes.  When using a handheld drill, invest in a jig to ensure your holes are straight
  • Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection.  Keep all guards in place on your machine.

Eli F. ★★★★★

Used it on a piece of stainless steel yesterday and the cut was smooth, almost no chatter at all. The 1/2" shank fit my drill chuck without any fuss, which is more than I can say for some other bits I've wrestled with. Definitely glad I went with the HSS for this job.

Emma ★★★★★

This bit went through a stack of 1/4" mild steel plate without even slowing down. The reduced shank on the 15/16" size is a nice touch for swapping between chucks. Exactly what I needed for thicker metals.

Charlotte ★★★★★

Needed to drill into some thick steel plate and this bit cut through cleanly without wandering, the 1/2-inch shank fit my chuck perfectly. Took about thirty seconds per hole and it didn't overheat at all, which surprised me considering how big 15/16" is.
