Product Specification

1" SILVER & DEMING HSS DRILL BIT

Benchmark Abrasives 1" Silver & Deming HSS Drill Bits are ideal for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, manganese, and other tough materials. They are precision ground from one solid piece of heat-treated high speed and have a 135-degree split point to eliminate wobbling.

Silver and Deming drill bits are large size bits with reduced shanks that are ideal for situations where a bit diameter is greater than the capacity of a drill chuck. This Silver and Deming drill bit is also known as a reduced-shank drill bit. The HSS drill bits provide good wear resistance and can be used in general purpose applications on both ferrous and nonferrous materials. Oxide coating of these bits prevents chip building, galling, and welding on the workpiece. Its black-gold surface treatment holds lubricant for smoother, longer drilling. It is ideal for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, manganese, and other tough materials.

Quantity: 1 piece

Dimensions

Safety Tips/techniques:

  • We suggest using a drill press as opposed to a drill with our silver and demming bits.  A drill can be tricky to ensure straight drilled holes.  When using a handheld drill, invest in a jig to ensure your holes are straight
  • Always wear proper PPE to include (but not limited to) safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, and hand protection.  Keep all guards in place on your machine.

Ella V. ★★★★★

Cut through a 3/4" steel plate on the first pass, no binding or chatter at all. The 1" diameter and reduced shank made it easy to handle in a standard drill press, and it left a surprisingly clean hole edge.

George ★★★★★

Picked this up for some thicker steel I was working with, and it cut through cleanly without any wobble or binding. The 1-inch diameter is a nice size to have on hand for larger pilot holes.

Ella ★★★★★

The shank fits perfectly into my drill press chuck, and it cut through half-inch steel plate without any binding or overheating. Exactly what I needed for this project.
