Product Specification

1-5/8" FORSTNER BIT

Benchmark Abrasives 1-5/8" Forstner Bits are MADE IN USA.  Precision ground from one solid piece of heat-treated, heavy duty carbon steel, these bits can drill flat bottomed holes without splintering and are ideal for making holes in plywood and MDF board. This drill bit can create the pocket and grommet holes, countersinking screws, and drilling out knots in the wood. It features a sharp center spur that accurately locates the center of the hole.  The double cavity efficiently removed chips, debris, plugs and reduces heat.

Forstner Bits are an important tool for many hardware installations where a specific depth of the hole is required. The Forstner bit is guided by the wide outside rim of the bit whereas the drill bits are guided by the tip. These bits are the perfect choice to produce flat bottomed holes. It can drill a flat-bottomed hole, making them a necessary tool for many hardware installations where a precise depth of mortise is required. They are optimized for woodworking applications and cut exceptionally precise, clean-edged holes in wood.

Richard ★★★★★

The heat-treated steel gives this bit a solid feel when boring through hard maple, and it cut cleanly without any wandering on the first try. Perfect for drilling precise 1-5/8" holes for shelf pins.

Leo ★★★★★

I've been using this bit in my drill press and the flat-bottomed holes come out perfectly clean in walnut and plywood. The heat-treated steel holds its edge noticeably longer than my old import bits.

Edward ★★★★★

I was skeptical about the price for a single bit, but this thing is one solid piece of heat-treated steel and you can feel the difference the second you pick it up. Drilled a set of recessed holes for cabinet hinges and every single one came out glassy smooth with zero tear-out.
